moon note

i meant to
get to bed before 11
but someone snuck caffeine into the 
lunch dessert and so now
while the moon with its hazy ring sings to me
my heart and blood and body sing back
11:15pm

how cynthia lifts her finger perch
to the tiger swallowtail
flitting around in the plum blossoms
outside the garden shed
_______

the exposed roots of the tiny tomato (and surprisingly not so tiny) plants
as i lift them out of their flat and into their upgrade: soil blocks
while i wish them strength and good long lives and tell them
they’re going to make it through this
while i note the cold of the blocks
i am shocking them into
