morning run:
fields along gravel/dirt roads
and the fog levitating above them
the quality of light: gold/orange
a heron opening wings to
lift itself up out of the
creek edge whose bridge
we run across
how good it feels
to come into my pace
when i get there

garden party work crew
gathered at tool shed
8:04am
and makes their way
to weed the sweet potatoes in
north garden
followed by okra/tomatillo harvest
tomato weeding
and squash runner re-directing

remember our agreement i remind emory
about the one-tomato-a-day plan
in the sungold patch

deadheading sunflowers
with felcos on the south side of the whitehouse
the stickyness of
whatever that sunflower stuff is
on my fingers

tiny tupperware tub
for collecting seed
from the orange cosmos plants
how all i have to do is
wrap my fingers around the dried seed-head
and cup what drops off
in my palm

shout my name out while you
go down the slide i say of
the after-dinner pool party
the slide’s not my thing trish says
i’ll jump into the water
in the shape of an f
like this trish demonstrates
with her legs straight and
arms out

bouquet for cleaned bench/table:
white zinnias with hot pink strip
white dianthus
fuschia dianthus
orange calendula
peach yarrow
hot pink yarrow

the click of mini m&m shells
(blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, red)
against each other
in my palm

pest-tatoes someone calls them
(mica’s roasted potatoes
with pesto
and leftover veganaise)

denmark (copenhagen) comes to us
in the form of laura and casper
who laugh at their new york plan
of just meeting someone at a bar
who might put them up
