after the desert

mica rocking a hot pink singlet
phoenix dons a gold crown atop his head
trish in knee highs and all-red with a silver sequin accent

how we howl and scream and throw our full bodies
into laughter while
shuffling around the gravel court

in one of the porch swinging chairs
echoing av’s assessment
