that’d be a doughnut-doughnut
i say
about the breakfast progression of
doughnut → breakfast sandwich → doughnut

regarding the breakfast sandwich:
i put the onions in the eggs
she says, purple aproned and smiling eyes
face framed with tidy white-gray

the movement of our lungs

when they handed me a glass of water
a college-age visitor at dancing rabbit says
i didn’t know how precious it was
(because they harvest/collect rainwater)
so i savored it

you should see people in southern california
he says they use a hose to sweep their driveways

the rainwater here (caught and put through the filter)
is the best tasting water
i eventually want to collect my own water
i want to be intentional and moderate it

we cart ours (water) everyday
says may who lives at the aforementioned ecovillage
three fourths of a mile between our kitchen and the spigot
we can fit three 5-gallon buckets in the cart or
four in the wheelbarrow
half goes to the animals (goats, ducks, chickens)
the other half goes to us
sometimes we don’t always ‘wash’ our dishes
sometimes we just lick them clean
and eat off them again
